College Station String Quartet
Welcome
The College Station String Quartet is composed of experienced players in the Brazos Valley area. We provide music for wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, parties, church services, memorials, and any other event.

We are the local leaders in in-house transcription and arranging services.

We have played at many diverse venues including Pebble Creek Country Club, Traditions Club House, Miramont Country Club, Christopher’s World Grille, 7F Lodge, Briarcrest Country Club, Historic Independence Baptist Church, A&M Church of Christ, Arbor Oaks at Crestview, and Texas A&M University.

You may have seen us perform at the Fall 2009, Fall 2010, and Fall 2011 Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley Bridal Show and Benefit and the College Station Hilton Showcase Wedding Reception.

We are also dedicated to enriching the arts in our local community. We have played at Storytime at the College Station public library, Carriage Inn retirement community, and Art Step in historic downtown Bryan.

Services
Our wedding service consists of 30 minutes of background prelude music while your guests arrive, then music for the entrance of the wedding party and the rest of the ceremony.

Our wedding and reception service is the wedding service plus an hour or more of background music during a post-wedding dinner and reception.

These are our most common services. We are also available to play background music for parties or other formal occasions on an hourly basis.

Please email us for our current rates.

Our expert consultation is free of charge. We have worked many different weddings and can walk you through all the options and help you choose the perfect music for your event. If you already know exactly what you want, we can work with you to deliver your vision!

Don’t want to deal with the music selections? Don’t have any preferences? You’ll probably find our standard wedding program a good fit.

Repertoire
We perform all the familiar classics, as well as light jazz and ragtime. On request, we can also prepare other classical works or special pop song arrangements.

We are able to bring you the most popular and best classical quartet repertoire, however technically demanding. We are careful to play only the finest arrangements. Our Four Seasons is Vivaldi’s original, complete with all virtuoso passages. Our version of the Aggie War Hymn (a crowd favorite) is complete with all four themes; we transcribed it directly from the marching band recording.

We are the local leaders in in-house arranging and transcription skills.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book?
Just contact us and we will reserve the date for you! No deposit required.
Do I need a contract?
We would be happy to send you a formal written contract. But we don’t require it, and we do 4 out of 5 weddings without a contract. Formal or not, our agreement to perform a service in exchange for money is legally binding in all cases.
What’s the difference between quartet and trio?
Trio: violin, viola, cello
Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello

We have all common wedding ceremony repertoire for both quartet and trio. Some of our prelude and reception music is written only for trio or quartet.

String quartets were traditionally more common in the past and provide slightly more volume.

Currently more than half the events we do are trios. A trio costs 3/4 the quartet rate.
Do you play only weddings?
Although weddings are our most common service, we are also available for parties, galas, and other events. We have numerous and diverse musical selections for any occasion.
How long before the event should I contact you?
As soon as possible! We often have events booked several months in advance, and some booked more than a year in advance. We need at least 2 weeks to buy or arrange music that isn’t on the list.
Could you play at my event outside the Bryan-College Station area?
Yes. We do charge for mileage beyond a 30 minute radius.
Do you need someone to give you cues?
We have done many weddings smoothly without cues, but it always makes it easier if your wedding planner or usher helps “direct traffic” and signals us so we can coordinate the music. The moment the bride enters and the music starts is always powerful, all the more if the timing is perfect.
Do I need to set up anything for you at the event?
We have only a few requirements:
  • Four chairs with no arms
  • A 6'x10' space
  • Enough light to read by—let us know if we should bring our music stand lights
  • We must have shelter if there is any possibility of rain during an outdoor event; our wooden instruments would be severely damaged by water.
